Connecting Stories, Building the Future: 36 Years of DICEX
This month, we celebrate 36 years of DICEX, a journey that began with a dream of connecting opportunities and contributing to business development.
Over the past three decades, we have achieved far more than simply being a logistics service provider. We have become a strategic partner for our clients, a bridge that connects people, companies, and dreams.
DICEX’s Growth: Beyond Logistics
DICEX is much more than a logistics company. Over the years, we have cultivated an organizational culture focused on people, creating a work environment where our team members can grow both personally and professionally, fostering strong, lasting relationships.
Our mission has always been clear: to facilitate the success of our clients and contribute to the development of our employees. Solidarity and camaraderie are the pillars of our company, helping us overcome challenges and celebrate successes together. Looking to the future, we remain committed to strengthening these bonds to continue to grow alongside those who are part of DICEX.
Today, DICEX has a team of more than 1,400 employees in Mexico and over 300 in the United States, with more than 600 men and 730 women from various generational groups, each bringing experience, vision, and energy. With this team, DICEX faces global challenges and builds a solid future where collective effort and passion drive us to new achievements in international trade every day.
Stories of Our People
Throughout our history, we have learned that DICEX’s success is the result of collective work and an environment where every team member has the opportunity to contribute ideas, learn, and grow. At DICEX, we have people whose stories serve as a constant source of inspiration. Key figures in our growth and evolution include Josebeth López, Olin Rivera, Joaquín Cervantes, Felicitas Salinas, Alejandro Cortinas, Ángel Cid, Melissa Gallegos, Óscar Solis, Juan Arreola, Alberto Gutiérrez Chávez, Martín Delgado, Javier Cendejas Meneses, and Israel Chapa. They have shared their experiences, the challenges they have overcome, and their vision for the future, which inspires us to move forward with optimism and determination.
Josebeth López, with 22 years at the company, highlights how DICEX has evolved to become a solid company, with a quality management system that has stood the test of time. She emphasizes DICEX's open culture, saying: "We are always given the opportunity to propose new ideas and watch them grow."
Olin Rivera, Director of Maritime and Intermodal Operations at DICEX, shares her 23-year experience at the company. Although she started without in-depth knowledge of the company, it was the support and teaching from great mentors like Lázaro Yizami that helped her develop. "I started from scratch, but that helped me understand the finer details of operations and be empathetic with my team," Olin comments about her learning process.
Joaquín Cervantes, Executive Director of Operations, began his career at DICEX 30 years ago. Throughout his career, he has held every position in the company, facing challenges that have led him to evolve both personally and professionally. "DICEX means a personal seal, my home, my family, the place where I can be myself." He also highlights how values such as quality, commitment, and responsibility guide his daily life.
Felicitas Salinas, Human Resources Coordinator, has been with DICEX for 34 years, starting as a receptionist. Over the years, she has grown thanks to her performance and the opportunities offered to her. "DICEX is a company with a lot of human quality," she comments, highlighting the constant support for employees and the trust that has always been fostered.
Alejandro Cortinas, who has been with DICEX for 19 years, began in the logistics business unit and now also manages the commercial side of the group. He fondly recalls his first days, though also with uncertainty, as he started on a Saturday not knowing exactly what role he would play or how much he would be paid. However, he soon discovered a place where work and camaraderie intertwined in a unique way.
For Alejandro, DICEX is more than a company: "It’s an unusual company. It feels more like a home than a business," and he deeply values this culture. Harmony, camaraderie, and the work environment are things he considers rare in many organizations. He also highlights what the team has achieved over the years, overcoming challenges and growing together.
Ángel Cid, Director of Technology and Information, who has been at DICEX for 18 years, shares that during his time with the company, he has witnessed significant technological advances, such as the automation and digitization of processes. He believes the company stands out for its focus on providing tailor-made solutions for customers. "DICEX has always been a leader in Foreign Trade, always striving to improve its processes and provide technological solutions to its customers," he shared.
Melissa Gallegos, who has been part of DICEX for 28 years, started in reception and quickly rose through different departments, from billing to accounts payable. "DICEX is a solid company that has provided me with countless growth opportunities, and I am deeply grateful for the support and trust they have always given me," she shares. She also highlights the support she has received both in her professional and personal life and the valuable friendships she has made within the company.
Óscar Solís, with 30 years at DICEX, started as a traffic assistant and proudly remembers when he was assigned his first client: "It was a growth for me, going from knowing nothing about customs to having my own client." The company's trust has been key to his development: "That same trust motivates you to give it your all." Throughout his career, he has faced challenges like technological evolution and staff reductions during the pandemic and celebrates how his experience at DICEX has influenced both his work and personal life.
Juan Arreola, Operations Manager with 34 years at DICEX, recalls his beginnings when the company operated with basic resources and the team was minimal. "I started in 1990, with just a desk and a typewriter. Today, DICEX has grown a lot, and I’m proud to be part of this team."
Over the years, he has seen DICEX’s growth in technology and logistics, strengthening his commitment to the company's discipline and values. "I invite you to work with passion and dedication because there is always room to grow and learn here," he said.
Alberto Gutiérrez Chávez, with 30 years of service and from Nuevo Laredo, began his journey at DICEX as a messenger and eventually rose to his current position as Account Executive. Throughout his career, he has faced various challenges but highlights the support he has received from both the company and his colleagues. "DICEX is my second family," he says, referring to the support he was given during difficult times, such as his daughter's hospitalization. Alberto is grateful for the opportunity for growth and how the company has provided a better quality of life.
Martín Delgado, Director of Specialized Projects at DICEX, began 27 years ago as a dispatcher and has been part of unique projects, such as the arrival of the Antonov 225 aircraft. Throughout his career, he has overcome challenges like relocation and the pandemic, highlighting the resilience of the team. He is grateful to DICEX for the stability and growth it has provided him and values his colleagues as part of his family. “It’s an honor to be part of this great company,” he expressed, congratulating DICEX on its 36th anniversary.
Javier Cendejas Meneses, who has been with the company for 18 years and is currently the Director of Institutional Relations and Marketing at DICEX, remembers what impacted him most about his first encounter with the company: the human approach he received. "What I liked most was that it wasn’t just about numbers and sales figures, but about treating me as a person. They asked me, 'What do you do? How’s your trip?' since I was traveling from Monterrey to Laredo, Texas. It was a close, very human approach, which is essential for good business chemistry, because in the end, business is done between people," he comments. This focus on genuine relationships made a big difference for him and solidified his connection with DICEX.
Israel Chapa, Director of Administration and Finance at DICEX and with 28 years at the company, reflects on how the key to overcoming crises, such as the one in 2000 and the COVID-19 pandemic, has been aligning the whole team toward a common goal. "When the organization focuses on a single objective, incredible things happen." For him, success does not only depend on crises but on having a good team with a shared vision. "With a united team and a clear goal, any challenge can be overcome," he concluded.
Looking to the Future
DICEX not only celebrates its past but looks to the future with optimism. With a solid foundation of committed collaborators, we are ready to face the challenges of international trade and continue building the future of the sector. Innovation, process optimization, and a commitment to excellence are the keys that will guide us in the next 36 years and beyond.
Eduardo Cantú, General Director of DICEX with 28 years at the company, highlights the organization’s commitment to developing its team: "We’ve built a very interesting platform to continue developing people, so that those who join the organization can make their dreams a reality, both professionally and in life, becoming better parents and leaders." With a future-focused vision, Cantú underscores the importance of continuing to empower employees to grow, not only professionally but also personally, creating an environment of support and opportunities for all.
In the coming years, DICEX will continue to consolidate itself as a leader in international trade in Mexico, strengthening its key role in the development of customs and the integration of services in foreign trade. Thanks to our collaborators, clients, and allies, we will continue to build the future, connecting stories and adding value with each project.
Hernán Saldívar, Founder and President of Grupo DICEX, notes: “We are at a unique moment to take advantage of Mexico’s potential, a country with a strategic location that boosts nearshoring and opens up great opportunities for foreign trade. At DICEX, we remain committed to offering a complete integration of services, aligning interests, and working as a team to add value.”
He also invites young people to prepare for global challenges, stating: “It’s essential to internationalize and be ready to compete in an increasingly connected world.”
